A few years ago I was on a street ministry team. Every other Friday night we would go somewhere in our city to witness to strangers about the things of God. Oftentimes, we would sit and speak with people who would be plastered drunk, cursing, smoking, and obviously living a life filled with sin. Many of them would profess that Jesus was their best friend.

How would people live if they have truly surrendered their lives to Jesus?

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

1 John 3:9
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God.

Galatians 5:19-21
The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

One night one of the street team ministry participants asked me: “These people who claim to be saved yet live a life filled with sin, are they really saved?”

I replied: “Only God will decide who will and will not enter into heaven for eternity. The one thing I do know though is that if Jesus comes into our lives, then Jesus should be flowing through us and coming out of our lives.”

Time with Jesus

When we have been with Jesus it is recognizable. The Holy Spirit within us brings a comforting presence to those around us. Our smile is seen as not just an ordinary smile, but one that releases joy. Compassion flows through us and people can tell that we have been with Jesus. Take time to be with Jesus, make time to pray and read God’s word today.

Acts 4:13
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

John 8:12
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”

Never forget this from today into eternity, the path of Jesus is the best one to walk on in this life. Trust him with your life no matter what! At times we may not know if we are going in the right direction, but if we choose to try and follow his steps every day, then we are on the right path. It is when we stop seeking after him daily, that we begin to walk in darkness. When we keep our eyes fixed on him through prayer, Bible reading, worship and fellowship with other serious Christians, then we are doing our best to commit our way to his leading. When we surrender our lives to him in this way, we begin to experience a real relationship with a living God. That’s when, we just know that we know, no matter what, we are going to be OK. Please read the scripture again.

Hebrews 11:6
and without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

Mathew 6:34
Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Can we imagine just for a moment that we have a small door key in our hand. I believe that faith is the key in our walk with God. When we have our house key with us and the door is locked, we are not worrying about how we will get into the house. The same is true with a car door as long as we have the key to unlock the door, there are no worries. Faith is just a decision that we make to trust God and not worry. It’s a small thing in our hands, but when we hold the key of faith, God can open many doors. We just keep earnestly seeking him and trust without worry that he is working all things for the good. Sometimes I just say out loud, “Jesus I trust you.”
