Present is a place in the realm of the Spirit where the Lord starts to speak openly and with intense revelation. If you have ever had those moments when you have been studying your Bible and the Holy Spirit, the teacher, is speaking at full volume, then you understand our Scripture. The pen in your hand moves quicker than ever before and as the thoughts regarding the ways of God occur clearer than ever in the past. In a moment, God gives an understanding of His kingdom and an awareness of His presence that is almost more than we can bear. With this kind of experience with the Lord the understanding of what God is revealing is spread out over a great length of time, with little gold nuggets of revelation. We are compelled to go further into the Word of God. Our scripture indicates that Jesus has an abundance of things to reveal to us. Open your heart to receive all which God has today and expect weighty revelation from Him!

John 16:12
I have still many things to say to you, but you are not able to bear them or to take them upon you or to grasp them now.

The Lord is just waiting for us to get quiet enough to listen for great revelation to come from heaven. When we purpose to spend time with him in prayer and by reading the Bible, he speaks. Take a moment and ask the Lord to reveal some powerful things to you in his word.

If you want more of God, then spend more time seeking after his presence. Make plans to dine at his table; hunger and thirst for the things of God.

We will plan our entire day around dining out at our favorite restaurant. Sometimes we even make a reservation for a certain time of the evening to dine there. We get dressed in our best clothes, wear our favorite perfume, and fix our hair just right to go out and satisfy our hunger and thirst for our favorite delights. We have devoted countless hours of our lives to satisfy the desires of our flesh.

Matthew 5:6“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.”

What if we planned a special time to spend with the Lord and got dressed in our best for him? It would be an honorary dinner just for the King of kings and Lord of lords. We could even reserve a time to hunger and thirst for all of the good things that he has. We could spend countless hours in his presence feasting on the righteousness that he wants to fill us with.

I’m always amazed at how much we talk about our husbands, wives, children, boyfriends, girlfriends and best friends, but we talk so little about God. In some ways this demonstrates how little time we devote to him. Matt 12:34 says: “For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks.”

When God is number one in our lives our hearts will be overflowing with wonderful things to share with others on a daily basis. His praises will continually be on our lips.

Matt 22:37
Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.”

Proverbs 3:6“In all your ways acknowledge him.”

How much time do you spend daily talking to God and about God to others?

Take a moment to think about the things that are overflowing from your heart on a daily basis.

After writing this, I am convicted. Won’t you join me and devote more time to prayer, worship and reading the word. He deserves so much more recognition than we give him.

Time with Jesus

When we have been with Jesus it is recognizable. The Holy Spirit within us brings a comforting presence to those around us. Our smile is seen as not just an ordinary smile, but one that releases joy. Compassion flows through us and people can tell that we have been with Jesus. Take time to be with Jesus, make time to pray and read God’s word today.

Acts 4:13
When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.

John 15:9-11
As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Fullness of joy is found in the presence of the Lord. When we remain connected to him through prayer, worship, walking in obedience, reading the word and fellowshipping with other Christians, we can experience a level of joy that the world cannot give to us. Jesus refers to it as, “My joy” in our scripture. Therefore, it is a different kind than what the world offers.

Remaining in God seems to be the key to experiencing greater measures of his joy. Psalms 16:11 says: “In your presence is fullness of joy; At your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Today, consider setting aside some additional time for the Lord and set the purpose in your heart to find a place within his presence where an abundance of joy may be found.
