If you are a believer and trying to practice your faith in God on a daily basis, then He is pleased with you. Think of how many people are blatantly ignoring the Lord. What about the ones who look righteous on the outside, but on the inside they are full of deception? You are not like that; you are God’s child. He loves and cares for His children.

Psalms 145:20
The LORD watches over all who love him, but all the wicked he will destroy.

Sometimes I think we get caught up in thinking we have to do all these things right in order for God to be pleased with us. This is not true. He desires for us to continue to become more holy, but he is not condemning towards us if we fail. God sees the intention of our hearts. He knows who his real kids are and He loves them with an undying love.

If you are seeking after the things of God daily and pressing into getting closer to Him, He is pleased with you. God smiles upon his kids, the true believers who want to spend time with Him.

I think by examining how we spend our time, we can answer the question, “Is God the Lord of my life?” I cannot answer this question for you and neither can you for me. The truth can only be revealed by examining our own lives. The Bible says that we are to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:5).

How do we spend our time?
On what things do we spend our money?
Whom do we rub shoulders with on a daily basis? Jesus?

Matthew 7: 22
“Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evil-doers!’”

The only way to get to know someone is by spending time with them. If we are rubbing shoulders with Jesus Christ every day, then God is really the Lord of our lives. When I talk to him and listen to God constantly as if he is right there with me every moment of every day, then I believe that he is really the Lord of my life. Take a few moments and examine yourself. Is Jesus the Lord over everything in your life?

Is God the Lord over everything in our lives? Do we seek His will in everything that we do? Is He included in all of the decisions that we make? When we are alone, do we always act as if He is present with us? Do we trust Him with everything or only certain things?

Mark 10:27
He (Jesus) answered: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with your mind” and “love your neighbor as yourself.”

It’s your life. The Bible says in second Corinthians Chapter thirteen and Verse five: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?”

Is He Lord over everything in your life today? Do you love Him with all of your heart? Only you can examine yourself to see if you are in the faith.

If you could be whatever you desired and have anything you wanted, what would that look like to you? Would God be in the center of your lifestyle? Would his purposes working through you be the most important thing that you were seeking after?

If you could have anything, would you rather be on the shores of Hawaii or in the house of God? Would you enjoy a cruise to Alaska more than a day in your Maker’s presence?

Psalms 27:4
One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.

This scripture comes from a man who possessed everything. He could have had anything that money or power could provide. To live a life influenced by the Psalms of King David will require having a love relationship with the Lord as David did. As we read through the King’s writings, we see a man after God’s own heart. Night and day the King is constantly crying out to God through praise, worship, prayer and psalms.

What is in your heart? Do you really desire to live a life dedicated to God? If so, then surrendering your will to Him and asking for help will come naturally.

Once I tasted of the amazing love that He gives and began to experience His presence in my life, I began to yearn for more of all that He could be in my life.

Notice in the scripture below some of the key phrases the Psalmist uses as he surrenders to the Lord.

•	Teach me
•	Give me
•	Direct me
•	Turn my heart towards
•	Turn my eyes away

Psalms 119:33-37
Teach me, O LORD, to follow your decrees; then I will keep them to the end. Give me understanding, and I will keep your law. Direct me in the path of your commands for there I find delight. Turn my heart toward your statutes and not toward selfish gain. Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to your word.

All we have to do is to trust Him to make the changes in our lives. The key, though, is to surrender our will to Him with sincerity of heart. Having a God-changed life is the result of having a willingness to become more God-like and letting Him do the work in us.

Try using these phrases in prayer time now and surrender various areas of your life to the Lord. If your heart seems to be far from God, then ask Him to turn your heart towards Him.
