In the Christian’s world, what does it mean when people say things like God’s grace was upon me. Grace is God s ability given to us and placed upon us. You are saved by it, which means that there is nothing you can do to earn your salvation; it is a gift from God. It is what God has finished for you. I have also seen that the disciples prayed that God’s grace would be added to one another often. The bible says at hand there is a gift of grace, just like there is a gift of faith, leadership, encouragement and others. As we depend on God completely for His ability( grace) to operate through us, then we look to his power working through us, and we no longer have to consider simply our own ability but that God is working through us. That is where the power to overcome difficulties and furthermore to minister to others is descovered. I can accomplish all things through Christ who strengthens me.

1Cor. 15:10
But by the grace of God I am what I am: And his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

Once we get God’s grace upon us and working through us, we will be used to to touch many peoples lives. When we experience the reality of his grace working through us, we will never again wonder what it means to have it upon us.

When people have wronged us, there can be all sorts of things that go through our minds that perhaps we would like to do to bring disgrace into their lives. Recently, I had a Christian brother take advantage of my good nature by agreeing to pay rent for his room in the amount of $500 per month and then he stiffed me. He lived with me for over six months and fell behind on his payments. As the story goes, he moved out owing me one month’s rent and assured me that he would pay me. That was several months ago and he has not returned even one of my thirty or so phone calls. I wrestled with the thought of contacting his pastor and decided not to after the Lord brought this verse to my attention.

Matt 1:18-19

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph, her husband, was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

When I read that Joseph did not want to expose Mary to public disgrace, I dropped the idea of meeting with this man’s pastor and bringing shame upon my ex-roommate. Our passage says that Joseph was a righteous man. That’s what I would like to be also, a righteous man. There are specific ways of handling difficult people that God would have us do or not do. Prayer is the best way to start dealing with troublesome people and situations.

Exodus 17
So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning. When Moses’ hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword.

This is a clear illustration of how we work together helping one another get through difficult situations. Sometimes people get tired of battling various things in life, and like Moses, they may want to just give up because they are too weak to continue. Maybe you’re the one who is feeling like giving up. If so, then find some church friends, adults or youth, and ask for prayer. Discuss the difficult things that you are facing with someone you can trust. I would think that Moses told his friends that his arms were tired and he needed help holding them up. Because the others helped him, the difficult battle was won. If you can be a friend to someone, who is going through a difficult time, then do it today and don’t delay. If you need a friends help because you are tired or lonely, call your youth pastor or get in touch with someone you are close to and can trust. If you are in need of friends to help strengthen you, but don’t really have any, then ask God for them. He will be faithful and answer your prayer.
