“Greet One Another With a Holy Kiss.” What does it Mean?

Without examining what Biblical traditions may surround the statement which instructs us to “greet one another with a holy kiss,” I would like to share a few of my own views.

When I think of the word “holy” I am reminded of a scripture that says we are to be holy as God is holy. What would God’s “holy kiss” be like? What is the person of the “’Holy’ Spirit” like? How has Jesus kissed us? What does it mean to greet one another with a holy kiss?

2 Corinthians 13:12

Greet one another with a holy kiss.

Because a kiss represents an expression of affectionate love, I believe that we are to greet one another with every possible way that God has expressed his holy love towards us. If we keep in line with the fruits of the “Holy” Spirit, then we are to greet one another with love, joy, peace, patients, kindness, gentleness and self-control.

Taking it one step further, Jesus has demonstrated his love and affection towards us through forgiveness.
